Black Velvet Rose: Book of Thorns
She sat there under the wildwood
Through season after season waiting
Through the rain, snow, and the falling leaves
Waiting on him to make his return...
She was once a young girl
In love with a young man.
They would sit alone together
Under the maple and the pine.
Moving to the cherry blossom tree
They would sit from sunup to sundown
Turning their magical day into smoky dusk
As a year of love flew by.
As days went by, months, even years,
She sat alone waiting for her cherry blossom love.
She searched high and low, heaven and hell
As the tears flooded her eyes.
She sat beneath the hemlock,
She sat beneath the pine,
She sat beneath the peach
Where he told her you are mine.
She sat through the summer,
She sat through the fall,
She sat through the winter
Watching the snowflakes fall.
As her hair grew gray
And her body grew frail
Cherry blossoms layered
Her tenderly, with care.
With seeds planted by pink blossoms
And cherries filling her breast,
A muffled request of love’s tender care
Left the sweetest juice for her heart to bear.
